Shell - Customer Case Study

Shell Real Estate, the corporate function that centrally manages Shell’s global property portfolio, faced fragmented CAFM systems across regions that prevented accurate benchmarking, cost transparency and consistent business processes. To drive operational efficiencies and identify underutilised assets, Shell required a single, standardised platform to consolidate real estate and facilities management data and workflows.

Shell rolled out Planon as a global IWMS, starting in the Netherlands and UK and expanding to over 3,000 properties in 39 countries. The solution standardized self-service, reactive and planned maintenance, service catalogs and contractor management, integrated with SAP and AutoCAD, and is supported by two competence centres. As a result Shell now handles about 40,000 service orders monthly, gives 150,000 employees and contractors access to self-service, improved space and maintenance efficiency, and has achieved significant, sustainable cost reductions.
