Refresco, the world’s largest independent producer of soft drinks and juices with about 60 sites across Europe and North America and more than 1,800 leased assets, faced a major reporting challenge when IFRS16 required all lease commitments to be recognized on the balance sheet from 2019. Years of acquisitions had left fragmented systems and inconsistent lease data, so the company needed a single, up-to-date register of leases and scalable processes to meet the new standard on time.

Refresco chose the Planon platform and engaged KPMG to implement a cloud-based IFRS16 solution within four months. A six-person core team consolidated and enriched lease data from 60 production sites into one package, trained roughly 30 finance staff across 11 countries, and enabled about 40 users to maintain the system — making Refresco IFRS16-compliant and ready to report from 1 January 2019.
