Dartmouth College Dashboard development & the democratization of data with Planon

Dartmouth College, an Ivy League institution, faced a patchwork of outdated point solutions across real estate, space management, and facilities. Beginning in 2017 they implemented Planon in phased stages to consolidate data and processes, then turned to business intelligence to “democratize” that information so campus stakeholders could access actionable facilities metrics.

Using Planon Connect for Analytics and Power BI, Dartmouth built user-informed dashboards (with SSO and embedded access in Planon) that provide high-level views and drill-downs with deep links for immediate action. The dashboards revealed gaps (e.g., missing time/cost on work orders), prompting new policies, SLAs, and workflow improvements, and delivering greater transparency and operational control while further mobile tools and dashboards are rolled out.
