A Planon Case Study
Brown University, a prestigious Ivy League institution managing 228 buildings and roughly 6.8 million gross square feet, relied on a Building Automation System (BAS) that monitors more than 2,758 field controllers and 207 supervisory endpoints. Those endpoints generated alarms about every 10 minutes; before the project one full‑time employee monitored the BAS 24/7 and manually created tickets — a slow, error‑prone process.
Integrating the BAS with Planon Universe automated real‑time creation of standardized work orders (capturing alarm name, location, asset and priority, and checking for duplicates) and enabled mobile assignment via Planon’s resource planner. The integration eliminated manual ticket generation, improved accuracy and response times, freed staff to focus on critical tasks, and delivered estimated annual savings of about $38,000.
