Case Study: Bayer Corporate Real Estate achieves faster maintenance, fewer site visits and cost savings with Planon (integrating Hexagon digital twin)

A Planon Case Study

Preview of the Bayer Case Study

Bayer Corporate Real Estate and Planon partner Hexagon

Bayer Corporate Real Estate (CRE) manages a large German portfolio—about 2,500 properties across 30 locations with more than 34,000 technical facilities—and supports Bayer’s CREM and FM processes through Planon since 2015. CRE needed to accelerate digital transformation and improve operational efficiency for maintenance planning (over 26,000 technical assets) while enabling easier handover to external FM providers and reducing on-site time and costs.

In a fast pilot with Hexagon (Leica Geosystems), CRE created a digital twin by 3D-scanning a Leverkusen building, uploading panoramic scans to Hexagon TruView, tagging ~200 technical items across ~700,000 sq ft and linking them to Planon for asset and maintenance management. The result: rapid implementation with no major investment, streamlined remote familiarization, faster asset location and repair planning, reduced travel and on-site time, easier tenders and better-informed maintenance orders — with plans to roll the integration out to additional buildings.
