A PlanIT Geo Case Study
The City of Bexley, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, faced challenges in managing its highly valued urban forest, including the continual loss of greenspace to development and the difficulty of locating suitable planting areas amidst dense utility infrastructure. To address this, the city sought to establish a data-driven baseline for its canopy and partnered with vendor PlanIT Geo to conduct an Urban Tree Canopy Assessment.
PlanIT Geo's solution provided Bexley with a comprehensive analysis of its current canopy distribution, creating a crucial baseline for future comparisons. The data gave the city the justification to focus its efforts, detailed contributions by land category, and is now being used to develop both short- and long-range canopy goals and a phased planting plan.
