Medrobotics Turns to Planful to Support Global Growth

Medrobotics, founded in 2005, develops the Flex System surgical robot for minimally invasive procedures and has grown into a global competitor with significant investor backing. Rapid international expansion exposed weaknesses in its finance infrastructure: budgeting relied on a 40+‑tab Excel workbook and manual consolidation, which was error‑prone, hard to scale across geographies and brands, and would have made the 2017 budget cycle unmanageably long.

After evaluating multiple platforms, Medrobotics implemented the Planful cloud budgeting, planning and reporting solution (with implementation by CFO Solutions) and went live in August 2016. The new system cut the complex 2017 budgeting cycle from about four months to six weeks, enabled tracking of R&D projects and spend attribution, and improved reporting (including digital board books); the finance team saw rapid adoption and signed a three‑year agreement to continue expanding use.
