Know-Center - Customer Case Study

Know-Center, an Austrian COMET competency center for knowledge management, faced growing complexity in administering commercial, national and EU research projects. Their mix of a Microsoft Access database, an in‑house time‑tracking tool and Excel made standardized planning, web access, accurate time tracking and grant reporting difficult and maintenance-intensive. To address this, Know-Center selected Planforge (formerly ONEPOINT) and its Onepoint Project software.

Planforge deployed Onepoint Project company‑wide, introducing web‑based access, sub‑projects for work‑package ownership, integrated resource planning and an open PostgreSQL/ODBC link to Excel for one‑click grant reports. As a result, administrative and maintenance effort fell, cross‑departmental communication and weekly time tracking improved, and report preparation for grant controllers became much faster—freeing time for better scheduling and project optimization.
