Sumitomo Electric Lightwave (SEL) manufactures complex pure glass-silica optical fibers and needed to eliminate production scheduling bottlenecks and improve plant efficiency. The company turned to PlanetTogether and its Galaxy APS platform to help deliver accurate promise dates, better use supply chain resources, and keep up with growing demand.

PlanetTogether implemented Galaxy APS and integrated it with SEL’s MES, with support from Accupointe, creating a more responsive and visible scheduling process. The result was an 8% improvement in promise-date accuracy and a 16% increase in output, along with better bottleneck management, real-time resource control, and improved coordination across plant operations, scheduling, and customer service.
