A Planar Systems Case Study
The World Economic Forum opened its Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in San Francisco and needed a high-performance presentation system that delivered clear, high-definition imagery and HD videoconferencing for large, multi-purpose events. Facing strict historic-preservation limits at the Presidio that prevented wall mounts, the Forum engaged Spectra Audio Design and selected Planar Systems’ Planar DirectLight LED Video Wall System to meet brightness, viewing-angle and reliability requirements.
Planar Systems supplied an ultra-fine 1.6mm, 8x6 DirectLight LED video wall (Full HD, engineered for 24x7 operation with six-axis adjustment and DirectLight Control Software) and worked with Spectra to design a custom free-standing, floor-anchored structure that complied with local seismic and preservation codes. The installation delivered clear viewing at multiple distances, enabled global HD conferencing, earned accolades from the World Economic Forum and the City of San Francisco, and prompted an identical Planar Systems DirectLight installation at the Forum’s New York headquarters.
