Video Walls Support Mission-Critical Operations for the United States European Command

The United States European Command (USEUCOM), headquartered in Stuttgart and responsible for directing operations for more than 50,000 military and civilian personnel with about 1,000 staff at the post, needed to replace two end-of-life projection systems in its Mission Command Center’s Joint Operations Center (JOC) and Senior Decision Cell (SDC). To address frequent maintenance, lamp replacements and operational risk, integrator C³EL recommended a Planar Systems solution using the Leyard DirectLight LED Video Wall System and the Leyard TWA Series.

Planar Systems supplied a 51.2 ft × 6.6 ft Leyard DirectLight wall for the JOC and a 26.6 ft × 4.4 ft Leyard TWA Series wall for the SDC; a shipped demo secured stakeholder approval and C³EL engineered a new load-bearing wall and completed integration on time and within budget. The Planar Systems installations deliver 24x7 fault-tolerant performance, sharper detail for maps and video, quieter operation, longer lifecycle and lower ongoing maintenance (no lamp replacements), significantly enhancing USEUCOM’s mission-critical visualization capabilities.
