Tuhoe Te Uru Taumatua - Customer Case Study

Tuhoe Te Uru Taumatua, the tribal government behind Te Uru Taumatua—the first Living Building in New Zealand—needed a high-impact, modern centerpiece for its new headquarters that would express tribal identity while meeting the strict sustainability and performance requirements of the Living Building Challenge. Planar Systems was engaged to provide a display solution (Planar Mosaic) that could deliver striking visual storytelling in the main lobby without imposing extra cooling, power or maintenance burdens on the sustainable building.

Planar Systems’ Planar Mosaic video wall, commissioned and installed by Click Suite, uses mixed-size tiles (AD55, AD46, AD22) in an overlapping arrangement to create a 3D effect and dynamic content flow, while its off-board power design and daisy-chained power cabling reduce heat, noise, cabling complexity and the need for additional outlets. The solution delivers bright, life-like imagery of Tūhoe culture, supports the Living Building Challenge imperatives (lower energy use and healthier environment), and extends display life (up to 50,000 hours), providing a low-maintenance, visually compelling focal point for the community.
