Temple University opened the Science Education and Research Center (SERC), a 247,000 sq ft facility designed to raise the university’s profile in scientific education and research, and needed a large-scale, flexible display solution for multi-window messaging, teaching and visitor engagement. To meet that challenge, Planar Systems supplied its Clarity Matrix Video Wall (Clarity Matrix with G2 Architecture and Clarity VCS controller) to create a high-impact central display in the lobby.

Planar Systems implemented a 7x5 array of 55-inch Clarity Matrix displays (35 panels across roughly 525 sq ft) driven by Clarity VCS to manage inputs from PCs, media players, digital signage and cable feeds; the system uses EasyAxis mounting, off-board electronics, 5.5mm tiled width, 4K input capability and 10-bit color. The result is a clear “wow” factor that sets the tone for SERC, improves content flexibility and presentation, and helps attract talented scholars and students—delivering a large-format, reliable digital signage solution with a 50,000-hour display life.
