SFMOMA - Customer Case Study

SFMOMA, following a major three‑year renovation that tripled its gallery space, needed a cohesive digital strategy to attract, inform and engage visitors across new public and exhibition areas. To achieve this, the museum partnered with Planar Systems (a Leyard company), deploying a range of Planar products including Clarity Matrix LCD video walls, Planar RA, PS and EP series displays and Planar Helium touch monitors.

Planar Systems installed video walls and interactive displays throughout lobbies and galleries (configurations such as 3x1, 1x3, 3x2, 6x2 arrays and large‑format PS and Helium screens), enabling dynamic donor recognition, real‑time content updates (donor lists can be changed in minutes), immersive art exploration and clearer wayfinding. The Planar Systems solution delivered high brightness and resolution, commercial‑grade reliability (serviceable modules, up to 50,000‑hour life spans) and measurable improvements in visitor engagement and interactivity across the museum.
