Portland International Airport - Customer Case Study

Portland International Airport (PDX), the 33rd largest U.S. airport handling more than 12.9 million passengers annually, needed to replace an aging CRT- and plasma-based flight information display system with modern, uniform digital signage. PDX selected Planar Systems and purchased nearly 300 M-Series LCD displays (Planar m40L 40" units) to deliver consistent flight, paging and wayfinding information throughout the terminals.

Planar Systems deployed the M-Series 40" direct-view LCDs (1920x1080, ~700 nit, ~50,000-hour life, 0.6" bezels) integrated with Com‑Net Software’s ECLIPSX so screens accept real-time updates via built-in video receivers. The solution produced a visually consistent, highly readable system—even in bright concourse locations—centralized flight/paging content across terminals, and delivered improved reliability and lower total cost of ownership compared with the legacy displays.
