Pacific University’s EyeClinic in Beaverton faced the challenge of modernizing patient interaction and speeding the selection and ordering of eyeglass frames and lenses while creating a more engaging, student-ready learning environment. To address this, Pacific University partnered with Planar Systems and deployed Planar’s Multi-Touch monitors – two 19-inch PT1985P units for opticians and a 22-inch PT2285PW for an interactive waiting-room display.

Planar Systems’ touch-screen solution let patients and staff browse frames, lens types and coatings with intuitive finger gestures, enabling opticians to enter orders on the spot and transmit them error-free. The clinic cut selection and ordering time from as long as an hour to just a few minutes, increasing throughput, patient satisfaction and staff proficiency; the durable, glove/stylus-capable screens with a built-in privacy filter also support the clinic’s move toward a paperless, EHR-linked workflow.
