OMSI - Customer Case Study

OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) needed a durable, large-format interactive display solution for its Brainstorm exhibit to let visitors explore the work of 12 Oregon innovators via intuitive touch. Working with design firm Fashionbuddha, OMSI selected Planar Systems' EP-Series LCD displays with integrated optical touch — deploying two 46" Planar EP‑Series Touch kiosks — to meet requirements for precise dual-touch interaction, a slim aesthetic, low glare and continuous, high-traffic operation.

Planar Systems built the EP‑Series Touch displays into side-by-side kiosks that allow multiple visitors to navigate content in a familiar, smartphone-like way; the full-metal casing, glass protection, LED backlighting and 24x7 reliability delivered the durability and lower power consumption OMSI required. The solution produced a highly engaging visitor experience, performed reliably under heavy use at a museum that attracts more than one million visitors annually, and created new opportunities for reseller Fashionbuddha.
