OHSU Knight Cancer Institute built a new 320,000-square-foot research facility in Portland to encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration and public engagement, but its open floorplan and expansive exterior windows created challenges for readable signage and high-resolution scientific presentation. To address these needs, Planar Systems was brought in (alongside Leyard) to provide display technology, including the Planar Simplicity Series 4K large-format LCDs for meeting spaces, while Leyard supplied LED solutions for the building’s feature and auditorium walls.

Planar Systems’ Planar Simplicity Series 4K displays were installed throughout meeting rooms to support collaborative data work, and the site’s Leyard CarbonLight CLI and TWA LED video walls deliver high-impact exterior messaging and a crisp 4x4 auditorium display for a 200-seat space. The result: markedly improved public engagement—passersby stop to view the exterior LED wall—and clearer, more effective scientific presentations that reveal subtle data contrasts, streamline collaboration among researchers, and future-proof the institute’s AV capabilities; Planar Systems’ solutions played a key role in enabling those outcomes.
