New-York Historical Society - Customer Case Study

The New-York Historical Society wanted to make its entry space more engaging and to present historical content in a dynamic, visitor-focused way. To meet that challenge, Planar Systems supplied the Clarity Matrix MX55 LCD Video Wall System to transform a static painting into an interactive exhibit that draws visitors into the museum experience.

Planar Systems’ solution — a 5x2 array of ten 55" Clarity Matrix panels integrated with ceiling-mounted motion-detection cameras and software from Small Design Firm and installed by Electrosonic — brings the 18th-century painting to life when viewers gather. The Clarity Matrix delivers full HD imagery with a 5.7 mm image-to-image gap, off-board electronics for seamless architectural integration, EasyAxis mounting for faster installation, and long-life (50,000-hour) backlights with intelligent power savings. The result is a cost-effective, reliable installation that enchants visitors, increases engagement with the museum’s content, and meets the Society’s objective of making history feel immediate and memorable.
