A Planar Systems Case Study
The National Geographic Museum in Washington, D.C. needed a striking, technology-forward way to celebrate 125 years of exploration and present large-format visual storytelling in a busy public space. To create a memorable, flexible exhibit that could handle high traffic, minimize heat and allow easy servicing, the museum worked with Planar Systems to deploy a Clarity Matrix LCD video wall (12-panel Clarity Matrix MX46HD array).
Planar Systems delivered a 4x3, 12-panel Clarity Matrix installation with off-board electronics, Quad Controller processors, Planar ERO glass and the EasyAxis mounting system—installed by Avitecture—to enable an offset, organic layout, full-HD output to all panels, quick alignment (fine-tuned in minutes) and convenient rack-room troubleshooting that reduces exhibit heat and cooling needs. The result is an engaging, durable display that encouraged creative content design, simplifies maintenance without disrupting visitors, and comes with strong vendor support and a three-year warranty, enabling the museum to repurpose the system and plan additional installations.
