NASA - Customer Case Study

NASA’s Payload Operations Integration Center (POIC) at Marshall Space Flight Center needed a more effective, reliable display solution to monitor and manage the science conducted on the International Space Station. Planar Systems provided its Clarity Matrix Video Wall (nearly two dozen Clarity Matrix MX55HD panels) to replace mixed large monitors and projection screens and centralize mission-critical visualization for flight controllers and scientists.

Planar Systems’ Clarity Matrix installation — a nearly 225 sq. ft., ultra-slim (5.5 mm bezel) Full HD video wall with 800-nit brightness, 3500:1 contrast, 16 million colors and 50,000-hour backlight life — improved collaboration, situational awareness and around-the-clock remote monitoring of 200+ concurrent ISS experiments. Operational since mid-2013, the system’s reliability (24/7, 365 days) and serviceable EasyAxis mounting have reduced disruption to experiment oversight and enabled faster sharing of live video, data and imagery across the ground team.
