The Memphis Police Department faced a failing legacy rear-projection video wall that had lost brightness and incurred rising lamp and maintenance costs, limiting its ability to support intelligence‑led policing and city‑wide surveillance monitoring. Planar Systems was engaged to replace that system, supplying the Clarity Matrix LCD Video Wall (MX55HDU) paired with the Clarity Visual Control Station (VCS) and the Planar EasyAxis mounting system to deliver a reliable, high-performance display platform for the Real Time Crime Center.

Planar Systems installed a 36‑panel Clarity Matrix array in a 13x2 curved configuration spanning more than 130 feet (nearly 550 sq ft), with off‑board electronics and Planar EasyAxis for simplified installation and maintenance. The new wall (1920x1080 per panel, 800 nit, 3500:1 contrast, 3.7 mm bezel) produced virtually seamless, higher‑clarity imagery, improved visibility of crime scenes and hotspots, enabled flexible multi‑source video routing via the Clarity VCS, reduced cooling and service disruptions, and supported continuous 24x7 operation—helping officers better detect and respond to criminal activity.
