Leyard LED Video Walls Selected by NBC Olympics for production of 2016 Olympic Games in Rio

NBC Olympics selected Planar Systems to supply fine‑pitch LED video walls for its production of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Facing the need for ultra‑high‑resolution, on‑camera backdrops across multiple studio and outdoor locations, NBC required broadcast‑grade displays able to meet strict color temperature, gamma, contrast and reflection requirements.

Planar Systems deployed Leyard TVH Series LED video walls — notably a 13'×13' TVH1.9 (169 modules), an 8'×7' TVH1.9 (56 modules) and a 9'×12' in‑floor TVH2.5 (108 modules) — delivering 1.9mm and 2.5mm pixel pitches for crisp imagery. The Planar Systems solution provided deeper blacks, higher contrast, precise broadcast color/gamma tuning and reduced reflection, producing a striking on‑camera backdrop across NBC’s International Broadcast Center and Copacabana Studio and enhancing the visual impact of NBC’s Olympic coverage.
