Large Deployment of Planar Displays Supports University's Goals for a Unique and Effective Learning Environment

Clemson University transformed its Watt Family Innovation Center to deliver a 21st‑century learning environment and needed a comprehensive, interactive display strategy to support collaboration, digital signage, wayfinding, distance learning and advanced classroom instruction. Planar Systems was selected to supply the core technology, providing Clarity Matrix MultiTouch and 3D LCD video walls, the Clarity VCS video wall processor, Planar UltraRes Series 4K displays and Planar PS Series HD displays to meet those needs.

Planar Systems deployed nearly 200 displays across the four‑story facility — from 2x2 to 4x8 Clarity Matrix video walls (including a nearly 290 sq. ft. 8x4 auditorium wall), 98‑inch UltraRes 4K touch units, mobile PS Series screens and Clarity VCS for centralized control — using ERO optically bonded touch for durability. The installation supports 32 simultaneous touchpoints per Multitouch wall, serves roughly 50,000 annual lobby visitors, enables interactive classrooms, digital signage and video conferencing, and included a gift‑in‑kind of more than $1M from Planar Systems as a Sustaining Innovation Partner, delivering measurable improvements in engagement and facility capability.
