A Planar Systems Case Study
IdentityMine, a Seattle-based interactive design and user-experience agency, was asked to create an intuitive, multi-user interactive experience for a large, sculptural video wall at InfoComm 2013. Working with vendor Planar Systems and the preset Planar Mosaic architectural video wall design, IdentityMine needed to enable easy, simultaneous interaction without training while preserving the overlapping, rotated aesthetic of the installation.
Planar Systems implemented the solution using a Planar Mosaic array (five Salvador tiles, eight 46" Pablo tiles and two 55" Vincent panels) spanning over 16 feet wide and more than 9 feet tall, driven from a single PC with native 4K output, and paired with a Planar Helium 27" multi-touch kiosk as a second-screen control. The configuration let multiple users manipulate assets on the Helium and see real-time changes on the Mosaic wall, reduced scaling artifacts, kept power and heat off the wall with two off-board supplies and daisy-chained low-voltage power, and delivered a striking, easy-to-use trade-show experience that showcased Planar Systems’ product capabilities.
