A Planar Systems Case Study
Lassonde School of Engineering at York University set out to build a “future classroom” that supports interactive learning, real-time collaboration and global participation, but faced demanding technology requirements for multi-user touch interaction, seamless media switching and integrated video conferencing. To realize this vision they worked with ET Group and chose Planar Systems’ Clarity Matrix MultiTouch LCD Video Wall System as the core display technology.
Planar Systems implemented the Clarity Matrix MultiTouch (3.7mm tiled bezel, 500 nits, six touch points, Planar ERO) to provide simultaneous multi-user touch, real‑time editing of documents, quick switching between whiteboard/PPT/video and built‑in video conferencing with recording. The deployment created a virtual classroom where remote guest speakers and students participate as if in person, lectures are available immediately after class, and collaborative learning and classroom engagement have measurably improved.
