Clarity Matrix Video Wall is Focal Point of Newly Renovated Student Recreation Center

The University of Oregon Student Recreation Center needed to move away from static, paper-based signage toward a dynamic, attention-getting communications platform that could reach multiple audiences and deliver a “wow” factor. Planar Systems provided the solution, supplying a Clarity Matrix Video Wall (branded by the University as the Media Wall) for the newly renovated SRC entry area.

Planar Systems’ installation (a 32-unit array of 55-inch Clarity Matrix LX55HDS displays arranged 8x4 and installed by CompView) created a nearly 320 sq ft focal point with 500 nits brightness, 3500:1 contrast and 5.5 mm tiled bezels while keeping total mounted depth under 4 inches. The EasyAxis mounting and daisy-chained power architecture (each display drawing 231 W from a single source ~125 ft away) simplified service and electrical infrastructure, reduced BTU/heat load and cooling costs, contributed to the SRC’s LEED goals, and gave the University flexible, measurable digital-signage capability that replaced paper signage and consistently delivers the desired “wow” effect.
