Arizona State University’s Decision Theater Network needed to replace an aging rear‑projection visualization system that was costly to maintain, occupied large amounts of space, and limited the team’s ability to view high‑resolution models collaboratively. To address these challenges ASU selected Planar Systems’ Planar UltraRes Series 98‑inch Ultra HD displays to deliver a modern, high‑resolution visualization platform for research, policy and planning discussions.

Planar Systems supplied and enabled a wall of seven Planar UltraRes UR9850 98‑inch displays installed edge‑to‑edge (with an eighth display for teleconferencing), delivering true 4K/60Hz performance and more than eight million pixels — over four times the resolution of standard HD — across more than 1,400 sq ft of display. The ultra‑thin (<4 in) panels freed room space previously taken by 13‑ft deep projectors, improved image clarity and motion smoothness for detailed GIS and modeling work, supported multiple simultaneous 4K inputs, reduced cost of ownership, and significantly improved remote collaboration and workflow efficiency between ASU and partner sites.
