ManoMano delivers image processing 2 weeks early with Plain Concepts

ManoMano, a European DIY and gardening marketplace, partnered with Plain Concepts to overcome significant technical challenges. They needed to develop an image management microservice capable of running on a server with only 256 MB of RAM, which required a novel approach to processing images without overloading memory. A second key challenge was to finalize the MVP for their product import system, which was inherited from a large legacy project and required extensive refactoring to meet deadlines.

Plain Concepts designed and delivered an image microservice that processed images incrementally in small chunks, avoiding the need to load them entirely into memory. They also implemented an AWS Lambda for dynamic image rescaling. The microservice was delivered two weeks ahead of schedule and operated smoothly from launch. Plain Concepts successfully completed the product import MVP on time, resulting in improved platform performance, flexibility, and a significant reduction in technical debt for ManoMano.
