A Plaid Case Study
Qapital, a personal finance app founded by George Friedman and Katherine Salisbury, helps members save toward specific goals using tools rooted in behavioral psychology and FDIC‑insured accounts. To power automated savings rules and protect members from costly NSF/overdraft events, Qapital needed reliable bank connectivity and account verification, so it partnered with Plaid and implemented Plaid’s API and connectivity services.
Plaid supplies identity verification, instant bank linking, transaction data (up to two years), balance checks, and ACH facilitation so Qapital can trigger automated savings and verify funds before transfers. The integration has supported Qapital’s growth to 1.7 million members and over $1 billion saved overall; Plaid has helped Qapital members avoid more than $2.7 million in overdraft fees, and members using Qapital’s full suite save an average of $5,000 per year.
