Gemini, a regulated cryptocurrency exchange and custodian founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, needed a faster, more reliable way to connect users’ bank accounts and verify identities to build trust and scale onboarding. To solve that challenge, Gemini partnered with Plaid to replace manual account-and-routing-number entry with Plaid’s account linking and identity-data service.

Plaid’s integration lets users select their bank and sign in with credentials so accounts are connected instantly (Plaid supports more than 10,000 U.S. banks), cutting average time to first deposit from 182 hours to 21 hours—more than 8x faster. As a result, 87% of new Gemini users choose Plaid when funding accounts and those who connect with Plaid are 11% more likely to become paying customers, while Plaid’s identity signals also strengthen Gemini’s compliance and expansion efforts.
