Orthofix simplifies packaging for 860+ implants with Placon

Placon worked with Orthofix, a global medical device company for spine and orthopedic markets, which needed innovative packaging to protect a vast range of implant sizes while meeting high standards for performance and sterilization.

The solution was Placon's design and manufacture of the FORZA universal packaging system, a double-barrier sterile system using standardized trays and configurable interior retainers. This allowed Orthofix to accommodate over 860 implants across five product lines with far fewer components. Placon's solution helped Orthofix lower tooling costs, reduce the number of packaging SKUs to inventory, and minimize the number of trays requiring validation while ensuring product protection.
