Case Study: Township of Langley achieves validated community input for Aldergrove Community Centre with PlaceSpeak

The Township of Langley needed public input to choose between two proposed options for a new Aldergrove Community Centre. To supplement two open houses, the Township engaged PlaceSpeak and used its web-based engagement platform to host an online survey, discussion forum and events page to collect community feedback.

PlaceSpeak’s platform ran from November–December 2012 and produced 763 unique page views, 74 connected participants, 43 completed surveys and 65 comment views; the online input closely matched the feedback from the open houses and was incorporated into a report to Langley Township in February 2013. PlaceSpeak’s geolocation verification also helped the Township understand where feedback originated, increasing confidence in the consultation results.
