Case Study: Orange County achieves adoption of its Community Sustainability Plan with PlaceSpeak

Orange County - Customer Case Study

Orange County sought broad, informed public input while developing its "Our Home for Life" Community Sustainability Plan to better integrate sustainability into local policy, culture, and governance. To gather resident feedback on goals and strategies across areas like mobility, natural resources, and civic engagement, Orange County used PlaceSpeak’s online engagement platform to reach and engage local stakeholders during the November 2013–May 2014 planning period.

PlaceSpeak provided surveys, a discussion forum, a resource library, and an event calendar to facilitate participation and clarify plan options; the platform recorded 70 Connected Participants and 3208 Unique Views. The engagement helped surface community priorities and ideas that were incorporated into draft recommendations, and the Sustainability Plan—reflecting contributions from PlaceSpeak participants—was accepted by the county commissioners in May 2014.
