The City of Chilliwack updated its 2040 Official Community Plan to guide growth amid a projected 58% population increase by 2040 and to address priorities like healthy communities, managed growth, the economy, agriculture and the environment. To broaden, verify and streamline public input, the City used PlaceSpeak’s online consultation platform as the primary engagement channel during the planning process.

PlaceSpeak delivered an online engagement solution—surveys, discussion forums, a resource library and a notice board—that generated 88 connected participants, 3,835 unique views, 96 comments and 474 survey participants (online and paper). The feedback collected through PlaceSpeak directly informed and influenced the 2040 OCP, giving residents a verifiable way to engage on issues and helping the City make better-informed planning decisions.
