City of Calgary - Customer Case Study

The City of Calgary sought to engage residents in selecting priority sites for future skatepark amenities and needed a reliable way to gather geographically specific public input. The City worked with PlaceSpeak, using PlaceSpeak’s geolocated online survey, interactive discussion forum and events calendar to reach and inform citizens about shortlisted sites and related open houses.

PlaceSpeak hosted the consultation, breaking down responses by municipal quadrant and participant distance to proposed sites, and facilitating discussions and event promotion. The campaign drove over 2,630 unique views, 421 connected participants and 395 completed surveys, was shared nearly 900 times on Facebook, and produced data that informed the Site Selection Report—leading to eight sites being recommended to move forward to the design phase.
