Case Study: City of Calgary achieves targeted community engagement for Stanley Park Redevelopment with PlaceSpeak

The City of Calgary undertook a Redevelopment Plan for Stanley Park to respond to rising visitor numbers, improve park user experience, boost environmental health, and identify lifecycle upgrades. To gather targeted community input, the City engaged PlaceSpeak—using its web-based public engagement platform to host two surveys and a discussion forum.

PlaceSpeak’s platform collected and organized public feedback, which was analyzed and translated into a concept plan for further refinement and presentation to the public. Running since August 2012, the engagement generated 1,627 unique page views, 32 connected participants and 27 comments, giving the City of Calgary measurable community input to inform the redevelopment.
