Western Union, the multinational financial services company, faced complex global data compliance across more than 200 countries and found its processes for locating and protecting customer PII to be inefficient and highly manual. To solve this, Western Union evaluated partners and selected PKWARE and its PK Protect data discovery and remediation solution to automate identification and governance of sensitive data.

PKWARE’s PK Protect automated data discovery, tagging and detection across priority systems—scanning AWS S3, Snowflake, Oracle, Postgres and Salesforce—allowing Western Union to identify and prioritize PII, validate findings with data owners, and develop targeted policies and remediation tasks. PKWARE’s solution scaled globally, reduced manual effort, and enabled an iterative expansion of coverage and future use cases such as masking and encryption.
