Commercial Banking Company, a large commercial bank with $35 billion in consolidated assets, ingests high volumes of compressed Parquet data into AWS S3 and needed a way to find sensitive information in those Parquet files, remediate false positives, and mask real sensitive values while preserving file format. The bank required a fully automated workflow for any new S3 data feeds and engaged PKWARE, deploying PK Protect to address these requirements.

PKWARE implemented PK Protect in the bank’s AWS environment with a custom policy set, leveraged EMR clusters for MapReduce discovery at scale, provided an automated bulk-remediation utility and an S3 Orchestrator to segment scanning/masking by task size. PKWARE also supplied an automated script to read new feeds from DynamoDB and run masking; PK Protect generated post-run reports detailing files submitted and files successfully masked, enabling the Commercial Banking Company to scan and mask sensitive Parquet data in S3 quickly and consistently.
