Syfy Wire, NBCUniversal’s pop-culture news site, wanted to reimagine its Comic-Con coverage to reach fans beyond the convention floor and give remote viewers a more immersive way to experience the event. To do that, Syfy Wire partnered with Pixvana, using VR and 360-degree video to capture the energy of San Diego Comic-Con.
Pixvana produced rapid 8K 360 content on a tight one-day shoot, turning around finished videos just 12 hours after filming wrapped. The immersive tours delivered strong video completion and social sharing metrics, gave fans exclusive insider access, and led to ongoing work with Syfy Wire on additional 180/360 series and coverage of multiple Comic-Cons and other NBCUniversal events.
