A Pixvana Case Study
Microsoft partnered with Pixvana to make its annual Build Developer Conference more immersive for both in-person and virtual audiences. The challenge was to capture simultaneous 360-degree coverage of keynotes and demos at the 15,000-attendee event without disrupting the live experience, while still showcasing the scale of the conference and the latest software innovations. Pixvana used its VR production expertise and SPIN tooling to support the effort.
Pixvana planned camera placement with Microsoft, deployed multiple Omni GoPro VR rigs around the stage, and stitched, upscaled, and edited the footage into 4K VR content with picture-in-picture views and bonus timelapse footage. The result amplified the event for 15,000+ attendees and let viewers worldwide experience Build as if they were there. The content was released in Microsoft’s Mixed Reality marketplace, and Pixvana also built a SPIN LaunchKit app for Windows MR to help developers publish high-quality 360/VR content more easily.
