Preview of the European Commission Case Study

European Commission advances fashion DPP PoC with PixelPlex and 6 stakeholder roles

The European Commission sought to address the environmental and ethical challenges in the fashion industry by fostering circular practices under its new Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). The challenge was to create a trustworthy system for product lifecycle information that could replace fragmented certifications and outdated tracking methods. PixelPlex's R&D team was engaged to formulate a unique technical vision for a digital product passport (DPP) to meet this need.

PixelPlex proposed a solution using blockchain and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to create an immutable and transparent ecosystem for product authentication and traceability. Their proof of concept included a comprehensive framework with specialized portals for manufacturers, consumers, and recyclers, designed to ensure data integrity and security. The PixelPlex solution laid the groundwork for secure product histories, reliable authenticity verification, and elevated sustainable practices, positioning the technology as a key differentiator for brands seeking to improve transparency and compliance.
