AtlantiCare transforms 21 pediatric wing walls with Pixel Parlor

AtlantiCare, a healthcare institution based in Atlantic City, sought to transform the intimidating environment of its pediatric wing into a captivating and inspiring visual experience for its young patients. They engaged the vendor Pixel Parlor to create a series of murals that would soften the space and provide comfort.

Pixel Parlor designed and installed a cohesive mural spanning 21 walls, creating an immersive seascape that takes patients on a journey from the Atlantic City pier deep into the ocean. The solution included interactive elements like an I-Spy game and whimsical characters. The project was so successful that it was later adapted into a coloring book. The vibrant mural significantly improved the atmosphere, engaging young patients and providing comfort to families, and the work received a 2020 American Graphic Design Award.
