Explosives Risk Managers LLC (ERM) in the United States needed a safer, more efficient way to support blasting operations and survey quarries in Virginia and Ohio. Working with Pix4D and its Pix4Dmapper software, the team used UAV imagery to measure stockpile volumes and excavated materials, locate boreholes, and monitor blast sites while minimizing worker exposure to danger.

Pix4D’s solution processed 954 images at 2 cm GSD into a point cloud, 3D model, orthomosaic, and DSM for accurate survey and blast analysis. With just six ground control points, ERM achieved precise volume measurements and useful outputs for before/after cut comparisons, borehole verification, fragmentation analysis, and blast planning—delivering faster, lower-cost results than traditional aerial photogrammetry in completely human-safe conditions.
