Study of a new 9-hole track on Rondissone golf course

Flight Mapper, a surveying and mapping company in Italy, needed a fast, low-cost, high-resolution way to map a new 9-hole golf course in Rondissone and support flooding analysis for heavy rain. The project was complicated by dense vegetation and the need to secure flight permission, so they turned to Pix4Dmapper for UAV-based surveying.

Using Pix4D and Pix4Dmapper, Flight Mapper processed drone imagery from single flights over two areas of the course to generate a 3D point cloud, mesh, and digital surface model. The results were highly detailed and accurate, with GCPs measured by Leica Viva GPS, and the outputs were compatible with tools like MeshLab, Global Mapper, and Autodesk AutoCAD. The project covered 14 and 21 hectares using 254 and 205 images, achieving GSDs of 2.6 cm and 4.3 cm, and the resulting models helped analyze flood risk and landscape details efficiently.
