A Pix4D Case Study
Aurea Imaging worked with an organic carrot farmer in the Netherlands to address major field variability across a 10-hectare crop, where potassium availability was suspected to be affecting carrot health and yield. Using Pix4D’s drone mapping and multispectral imagery tools, the team aimed to quickly detect nutrient deficiencies and improve field management.
Pix4D helped Aurea Imaging acquire and process multispectral drone data, generate an NDRE map, and identify two soil sampling locations in “good” and “bad” zones. Soil analysis revealed a large potassium difference, with a P-value of 9 in the poor area and 55 in the better area, compared with a target of 30–40 for carrots. Based on these results, Pix4D-enabled targeted potassium fertilization was recommended, reducing fertilizer waste, lowering input costs, and helping prevent potassium percolation into groundwater.
