Case Study: VEIKI-VNL speeds up industrial inspections with Pix4D drones and software

Inspecting one of the biggest industrial sites with drones

VEIKI-VNL, part of the DEKRA Group and operating one of Europe’s biggest industrial test sites in Budapest, needed a safer and faster way to inspect high-voltage assets such as transformers, pylons, and voltage controllers. Traditional manual inspections were time-consuming, risky, and often required shutting down equipment or using cranes and other rented access equipment. Pix4D’s PIX4Dinspect was used to support the drone-based inspection workflow.

Using Pix4D, FURAY Photogrammetry Solutions captured site data with DJI Mavic Air 2 and DJI Mavic Mini drones, creating detailed 3D models and inspection reports without turning off the electricity. The inspection of three объектов was completed and processed in about two hours, reducing what had previously taken a week to a single morning. VEIKI-VNL gained faster, safer, and more accurate results, while also uncovering issues such as a rusted grounding joint and surface corrosion.
