How to avoid construction errors and costly rework

VolkerWessels, a Dutch construction company, was building a new 123-room hotel in Groningen’s busy city center, where the tight site left no room for material storage or assembly. Because the project relied on prefabricated modules and strict delivery timing, even small construction mistakes or logistics delays could lead to costly rework, traffic congestion, and schedule overruns. To manage this complexity, the team turned to Pix4D and its CraneCamera solution.

Using Pix4D’s CraneCamera data in PIX4Dcloud Advanced, VolkerWessels monitored as-built vs. as-designed conditions twice a day, helping the superintendent catch a floor formwork deviation of 35 cm before it became a serious problem. The issue was corrected immediately, avoiding potential structural failure, rework, and delays. Pix4D also supported BIM workflows by exporting point clouds into Trimble Connect, helping the team document progress, coordinate stakeholders, and keep the project on track.
