Drone mapping for high value crops and viticulture

AGRIGEODRON, an Italian agricultural drone services company working with agronomists and farm owners in the Ferrara region, needed a reliable way to assess high-value crops and turn drone data into actionable decisions. The team wanted to understand how well drone mapping could reveal crop stress, support stakeholders, and justify the economic return of using the technology. They used Pix4D’s Pix4Dfields software alongside multispectral drone imagery for crop analysis.

Pix4D helped AGRIGEODRON map vineyards, walnut orchards, and strawberries under anti-hail netting, identify stress that was not visible to the naked eye, and create localized treatment prescriptions. In the vineyard project, targeted intervention led to improved stressed areas and a 10% increase in production. Across the projects, Pix4Dfields enabled faster processing, clearer visual reporting, and more precise crop decisions, while also showing the importance of combining drone data with agronomist expertise.
