Groupe Dynamite, a large fashion retailer, faced the challenge of manually scaling their Oracle Commerce (ATG) application servers on AWS to handle web traffic spikes, a process that was slow and inefficient due to the platform's on-premise design. Their technology consulting partner engaged Pivotree to develop an autoscaling solution, as their previous static server infrastructure with "baked-in" configurations could take weeks to update and integrate.

Pivotree implemented an autoscaling solution using Hashicorp Packer to create immutable machine images and AWS Systems Manager Parameter Store for runtime configuration. The solution leveraged Terraform for Infrastructure as Code and automated registration with the ATG BCC and Endeca systems. This provided Groupe Dynamite with the ability to rapidly provision new environments and scale production on-demand, improving patching processes and ensuring consistency while also helping to address PCI compliance requirements.
